Pirates 1, Indians 0: Cody Anderson gives another strong outing, but gets no support

CLEVELAND: Cody Anderson for the third straight start turned in a terrific outing, but he found no offensive support in a 1-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday at PNC Park.

Anderson threw eight innings, allowed just one run on six hits and struck out four. He’s now allowed just two runs and 14 hits in 23u2154 innings pitched since being promoted from Triple-A Columbus.

Anderson said earlier this season that he didn’t think he had ever pitched into the eighth inning in his career. He’s now done it in all three starts and on Saturday became the first pitcher to do that to start his career since Tim Wakefield pulled off that feat with these Pirates in 1992.
