Right-handed pitcher Danny Salazar, optioned to Triple-A Columbus back in spring training, will return to the Cleveland Indians for a Saturday start against the Minnesota Twins at Target Field in Minneapolis.
Per Paul Hoynes of the Northeast Ohio Media Group, "manager Terry Francona told reporters Wednesday that the Indians would need a starter for the weekend series because Carlos Carrasco's scheduled turn was pushed back to Monday in Chicago after he was hit in the jaw by a line drive Tuesday night against the White Sox."
Salazar's promotion allows for the Indians to maintain their current rotation construction, with Corey Kluber starting on Friday, Salazar starting in place of Carrasco on Saturday, and TJ House starting on Sunday.
The 25-year-old Salazar had a trying spring in Arizona, going 1-2 with a troublesome 8.18 ERA in four starts. However, he dazzled in his only Triple-A start so far - tossing six scoreless innings with four hits given up, seven strikeouts and no walks.
