Top 3 Cleveland Cavs Coaching Candidates As Of May 29th

The Cleveland Cavs' coaching search has finally reached the interview process, with a few very interesting names being tossed around as potential candidates to replace former head coach Mike Brown. Who's the most likely to land the job? Keep reading our Top 3 Cleveland Cavs Head Coaching Candidates As Of May 29th to find out:

3. Billy Donovan

The Cavs made it clear last week that they have interest in the Florida Gators head coach, and now it looks like the door could be open for them to make an offer. According to ESPN.com, the Associated Press is reporting that Donovan is declining to make any guarantees about the return to Gainesville. Several teams have reportedly already been in contact with Donovan, but the first overall pick in this draft could instantly make the Cavaliers a favorite to land his services.

2. Alvin Gentry

The Cavs have asked the Los Angeles Clippers for permission to interview their assistant coach. If the Clippers say yes, the former Phoenix Suns head coach instantly becomes a favorite due to his players' coach reputation and his preexisting relationship with former Suns exec and current Cleveland Cavaliers general manager David Griffin. Whether or not he wins the job could have more to do with the quality of the other interviewees around him than anything else.

1. Lionel Hollins

Per several NBA sources, Hollins will interview with the team on Saturday. His stock has been rising on the open market over the past couple of weeks and for good reason. Regardless of who wants to take the credit, the former Memphis Grizzlies head coach oversaw a complete cultural shift in Tennessee - turning a franchise which had been viewed as a laughing stock for years into a defensive nightmare for opposing teams. If he can bring that same vision to Cleveland, great things could be ahead for a team that may be closer than people expect to turning it all around.
