Instant Reaction: Raptors Overcome Slow Start To Beat Cavs 110-93

Cleveland opened the game on fire and started on a 24-6 run, but the Raptors responded and took a 56-54 lead into the break. Toronto continued that dominance in the second half as they cruised to an easy, blowout victory.

Turning Point:

Toronto went on a 14-2 run early in the second quarter that put themselves back in the game after falling behind early. The Cavaliers seemed to let up at that point, and the Raptors took advantage of it. That gave them the momentum they used to control the rest of the game.

Key Stat:

Toronto's bench outscored Cleveland's 51-19 in this game, which was the reason the Raptors were able to overcome their slow start so quickly.

Cleveland MVP:

Anderson Varejao had another double-double for the Cavs scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. LeBron James also played well in the loss with 15 points and dishing out 10 assists in the loss.

Toronto MVP:

Lou Williams came off the bench to have a career night for the Raptors, dropping 36 points and grabbing four rebounds.

What Did We Learn?

Cleveland has to do something about their bench situation. This is the second game in a row the Cavs have lost because the opposition's backups have drastically outscored their own, creating too big a gap for Cleveland's starters to overcome. Expect a trade to be coming soon for the Cavaliers, who have been linked to Timberwolves G/F Corey Brewer.

As for the Raptors, they look like a team that can really contend for the Eastern Conference title. They dominated Cleveland in all phases of the game and showed why they currently have the best record (11-2) in the league.

What’s Next?

Cleveland has Sunday off before hosting the Orlando Magic on Monday, while Toronto returns home to face the Phoenix Suns.
