Instant Reaction: Hawks Hold Off Cavs Rally, Win 109-101

Both teams came out strong, but Atlanta used a big second quarter to take a 51-41 lead into halftime. Cleveland cut into the lead in the third quarter, but the Hawks were able to hold off the Cavs to seal the win.

Turning Point:

Atlanta closed the first half on a 14-3 run, and used that cushion to take control of the game. Cleveland never led again after that.

Key Stat:

The Hawks won this game by playing pressure defense, forcing 20 Cleveland turnovers, and playing efficiently on offense (23 assists, 50.6 percent shooting).

Cleveland MVP:

Kyrie Irving carried the Cavs, who were missing LeBron James with soreness in his knee, scoring 35 points and dishing out nine assists.

Atlanta MVP:

Paul Millsap took advantage of Cleveland's weak post defense in this one, especially in the fourth quarter. He finished with 26 points and nine rebounds to lead the Hawks.
