Dion Waiters Traded To OKC, Cleveland Gets J.R. Smith, Iman Shumpert In Three-Team Deal

The Cleveland Cavaliers, Oklahoma City Thunder, and New York Knicks have agreed to a three-team trade involving Dion Waiters, J.R. Smith, and Iman Shumpert.

Oklahoma City gets Waiters, while Cleveland gets Smith, Shumpert, and a protected first-round pick from the Thunder.

New York receives reserve big men Alex Kirk and Lou Amundson from the Cavs, as well as Lance Thomas and a 2019 second-round pick from Cleveland in what is essentially a salary cap dump for the Knicks.

Waiters was listed as a starter for Cleveland's game against the Philadelphia 76ers before getting pulled just prior to tipoff, and was sent to the locker room.

Dion Waiters is averaging 10.5 points and 2.2 rebounds in 24 minutes per game coming off the bench for the Cavs.

J.R. Smith is averaging 10.9 points and 3.4 assists for the Knicks in 26 minutes a game, with Shumpert averaging 9.3 points and 3.4 rebounds in 26 minutes a game.
