Cavs have fired Mike Brown after 1 season as coach

The Cleveland Cavaliers have fired head coach Mike Brown after one season in charge.

The Cavs went in 33-49 in 2013-14 under Brown - he had also been the coach from 2005 to 2010, when he led the team to the 2006-07 NBA Finals and never failed to make it to at least the Eastern Conference Semi-finals.

In February, the team also fired GM Chris Grant, who was largely responsible for hiring Brown. Brown's position was considered 'under review', with reports emerging last month that the franchise might not be planning to retain him in 2014-15. In wake of the move, the team has promoted VP of Basketball Operations David Griffin to GM.
