Cavs Rumors Roundup: The Latest On David Blatt, Kyrie Irving, & More

The Cleveland Cavaliers have gotten off to a slower-than-expected 18-12 start to their season, and they've been the most scrutinized team in the NBA as they've failed to play up to their championship expectations to this point in the season. Here's the latest surrounding the Cavs:

DAVID BLATT

There is a divide that exists between Cavaliers head coach David Blatt and the team that the front office is worried about, according to reports. Part of it has to do with management's frustrations about not living up to expectations so far this season, and the other is they don't think the players believe in Blatt as their coach.

Reports surface of strife between Blatt and the team earlier this season as well, but those were squashed when Cleveland went on an eight-game winning streak.

KYRIE IRVING

Cleveland's starting point guard is set to return Tuesday night after missing the last two games with a knee injury. Irving originally hurt his knee against the Oklahoma City Thunder on December 11, and re-injured it against the Miami Heat on Christmas Day.

Cleveland was 1-1 against the Orlando Magic and Detroit Pistons in his absence. Irving is averaging 20.2 points and 5.3 assists per game so far this season.

OTHER NOTES

LeBron James turned 30 on Tuesday, a big milestone the superstar recognizes the significance of:

“The most important thing is that I get to live to see it,” James told USA Today. “Growing up and being part of the inner city, you see so many people have their lives taken away. If you grow up in that environment, you might not make it past 18 or 21.

“For me to have a family and be in the position I am today and see 30 … my family has protected me, the city has protected me, the man above has protected me and I get an opportunity to go on.”
