Cavs Rumors: Cavs and 76ers looking to trade 1st round picks?

With the 2014 NBA Draft less than two weeks away, there are tons of Cavs rumors surfacing about what Cleveland might do with their first overall pick. With Joel Embiid, Andrew Wiggins, and Jabari Parker all up for the taking, general manager David Griffin has plenty of options at his disposal.

However, if this next bit of speculation is any indication, the Cavs may be looking to both land one of those three coveted players and pick up a proven NBA commodity at the same time.

Per Cleveland Cavs writer Bob Finnan, (via Bob Evans of Buckeye State Sports), “One rumor floating around is the Sixers offering their No. 3 overall pick and forward Thaddeus Young to the Cavs for the first overall selection. The Sixers are supposedly enamored by Wiggins. In that scenario, if true, the Cavs would come away with Young and probably Parker.”

As Philadelphia also holds the tenth overall pick, it is likely that the two teams have already discussed trade options previously. Providing that Finnan's assertions are correct and the 76ers have their hearts set on Wiggins, the lure of acquiring cost-effective veteran production and remaining in the top three of the draft may be too much for the Cavs to pass up.

While Young would occupy $9 million in cap space for Cleveland, the 26-year old would bring with him rotation flexibility (can play both forward spots), accuracy from the floor (50% shooting in 2013-14), and needed punch as a scorer (13.7 ppg last season).

This deal could make perfect sense for the Cavs, especially if they haven't pinpointed Andrew Wiggins as their #1 guy going forward.

Having a chance at grabbing a game-changer in either Parker or Embiid, plus a legitimate NBA starter with tremendous upside, may be exactly what the Cleveland Cavs have been looking for ever since winning the 2014 NBA Draft Lottery.

Chat Sports will have more on this potential blockbuster trade as additional information becomes available.
