The Cleveland Cavaliers are still on the lookout for a big man, and while nothing appears imminent, there are several targets they're tracking closely as we inch closer to the trade deadline.
According to Fox Sports' Sam Amico, the Cavs have been tracking Kosta Koufos, the former Ohio State F/C currently playing for the Memphis Grizzlies. Koufos is averaging just 14.5 minutes per game for the Grizzlies this year, his lowest since 2010-11, and the Cavaliers are hoping to land him without giving up any major pieces. The Grizzlies are aware of his value and potential, though - Koufos was a first-round draft pick for the Utah Jazz back in 2008, and while he hasn't quite lived up to expectations, he's only 25 and still has plenty of time to develop.
The Cavaliers have a relatively thin frontcourt at the moment - Kevin Love, Anderson Varejao and Tristan Thompson have all been solid lately, but there isn't much of anything behind them, and an injury could expose their lack of depth. Brendan Haywood, Alex Kirk and Lou Amundson are on the roster, but none of those options have looked capable of holding down a spot in Cleveland's rotation.
Cleveland is also reportedly interested in Brooklyn's Brook Lopez, one of the three stars the Nets recently made available. Lopez comes with a high asking price, though, and his contract (worth $15.7m this season and $16.7 next year) is also an issue for the Cavs, who are already over the cap this season and have even more salary owed next year.
