5 Reasons The Cavs Can Win The NBA Championship

The Cleveland Cavaliers have been one of the favorites to win the NBA title since they signed LeBron James in free agency. They went through some struggles at the beginning of the year, but now the Cavs seems to have found their groove. Here are five reasons why they can win the championship:

5) Cleveland has the league’s hottest offense

The Warriors lead the league averaging nearly 110 points per game and are considered to have the NBA's best offense, but Cleveland is giving them a good run for their money. The Cavs average 103.5 points per game and shoot nearly 46 percent from the floor as a team, including 36.4 percent from long-range. If they can maintain those shooting numbers in the playoffs, they'll be extremely tough to beat.

4) "Spurtability"

Spurtability is a basketball term used to describe a team's ability to go on a game-changing run at any given time, and there might not be a team in the NBA with more spurtability than the Cavaliers. Kyrie Irving and LeBron James are capable of getting done by themselves, but J.R. Smith and Kevin Love are also unstoppable when they get hot from the field.

3) Star Power

The old adage in the NBA is that you can’t win in the playoffs without a superstar, and Cleveland has two in LeBron James and Kyrie Irving. Kevin love is really good, too, but he's fallen a bit from superstar status. LeBron is still the best player in the world, and Irving has repeatedly shown he has the ability to take over and win a game for his team at any given time.

2) Depth & Versatility

All five of Cleveland's starters average double-figures per game, showing their ability to attack a defense from every position on the court. Head coach David Blatt won't hesitate to go eight-deep with Tristan Thompson, Iman Shumpert, and Matthew Dellavedova, and the Cavs can also bring several more shooters off the bench.

1) Home Court Dominance

Cleveland started slow at home, but a 15-game win streak has turned Quicken Loans Arena into one of the toughest places to play in the NBA. As long as they continue to take care of business at home throughout the playoffs, Cleveland has an excellent shot to win the whole thing.
