Columbus takes torch from Akron as host of Browns’ summertime scrimmage

Beacon Journal sports writer

Sorry, Akron. The Browns will be flirting with Columbus this summer, another sign the organization views the state’s capital as the favorite to become the future home of training camp.

The team announced Thursday it will hold an intrasquad scrimmage late in the afternoon Aug. 7 at Ohio Stadium in Columbus. The start time has not been finalized.

The event, which the franchise has dubbed the “Orange & Brown Scrimmage,” will be free and open to the public, but fans planning to attend will need to register online beforehand. Logistics for registration are still being worked out.
