Cleveland Browns Rumors: GM Ray Farmer Not Likely To Use First-Round Draft Pick On A Receiver

Longtime Cleveland columnist Terry Pluto is reportedly hearing rumblings that Cleveland Browns general manager Ray Farmer won't draft a wide receiver in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft:

“Here are some other things I’m hearing…I doubt they will use a first-round pick on a receiver. They may return to free agency for this season’s version ofAndrew Hawkins, their free agent pick from 2014.  If he’s healthy, Miles Austin (lacerated kidney) is likely to be offered a chance to return.”

This makes perfect sense seeing that Farmer knew of Josh Gordon's suspension ahead of the 2014 NFL Draft and still stayed away from the bevy of wide receivers available in the first round.

The Browns have also been connected to upcoming Jacksonville Jaguars free agent wideout Cecil Shorts, so don't be surprised if the Browns upgrade their wide receiving corps in free agency while utilizing the draft to address other areas of need.
