Browns News: Johnny Manziel doesn't feel "ready" to take over team

In this Browns news and rumors update, Johnny Manziel is understandably a little bit disappointed that he wasn't named the Cleveland Browns' starting quarterback straight out of training camp.

However, per the Los Angeles Times, Manziel doesn't feel that he was quite yet in a position to take over the team on a full-time basis

"Obviously I didn't want this to be the outcome," Manziel stated. "But at the same time, I didn't necessarily feel I was ready, I felt like there were steps that I needed to take, and I need to take, to get better."

Johnny Football has shown bits and pieces of the dynamic skill set that has made him one of the most-hyped young athletes to be drafted out of the collegiate ranks in recent memory.

Those flashes of greatness are enough to convince his teammates that something special is on the horizon, despite his placement behind starter Brian Hoyer on the team's depth chart heading into the season.

"We got arguably the best No. 2 in the NFL," wide receiver Nate Burleson stated. "I'm a Johnny Football fan. Not only was I a fan before he got here, but now he's family because we play for the same team."

"I'll always be in his corner."
