Clemson Tigers vs Wake Forest Demon Deacons Preview and Prediction

Clemson will take on a hungry Wake Forest team this weekend. The Demon Deacons have said that they will treat this game like their National Championship. What they don't realize every week for the Tigers is for the National Championship. After a close game last weekend can Dabo get his team to 11-0, comfortably.

Clemson's Offense vs Wake Forest's Defense
On paper this looks like a mismatch but Wake Forest has been better the past few weeks. Senior linebacker Brandon Chubb has been a bright spot for the Demon Deacons. He will make a lot of plays Saturday but they will need more than his usual production. The Tigers balanced attack, led by Deshaun Watson, is different than anything Wake has seen this year. Clemson should be effective both running and passing. I'd also expect Charone Peake and Jordan Legget to have big games again.

Wake Forest's Offense vs Clemson's Defense
Wake Forest has used 2 quarterbacks this year and will likely use both John Wolford and Kendall Hinton. Wolford is more of a passing threat but is interception prone. He has 7 TDs and 9 interceptions. Hinton is a dual threat QB. With the Tigers struggling last week to stop quarterback runs, Hinton may get lots of reps.

The Tigers will look to clean up glaring missed assignments in their run defense. It will start with BJ Goodson and Ben Boulware. If these 2 make mistakes it hurts the entire defense. Boulware and Goodson need play their assignments and not overpursue the run, yet make plays. Also, look for Jayron Kearse to help a lot in run defense as well.

Special Teams
This may be the first game were Clemson has a clear advantage on special teams. Wake has done nothing in the return game which is an area that they need to exploit. Also, Clemson kicker Greg Huegel has now hit 90% of his field goal attempts. The Tigers should be better on special teams this weekend.

Prediction
The Deamon Deacons have played teams hard as of late. They have managed to keep their recent games competitive into the 2nd half. The Clemson team they will face this weekend will be too much for the Deacs. Wake may play hard but they just don't have enough fire power to keep up with the Tigers at home. Clemson wins 47-20.
