Clemson Tigers vs NC State Wolfpack Preview and Prediction

Once again the Clemson Tigers go on the road to face a team that seams above average. North Carolina State has some talent but has yet to face a team like Clemson. The Pack are looking to make a big impression. This weekend provides that opportunity.

Clemson's Offense vs NC State's Defense

State has been stingy defensively this year. The most points they have given up is 21 points. Mike Rose leads the Pack with 6 sacks, 3 of those coming in one game. Clemson will need to make sure he doesn't get to the quarterback. Linebacker, Airius Moore, leads the team in tackles.

Though the Wolfpack has been good this year they have yet to face a team close to the caliber of the Tigers. Deshaun Watson is prepped for a big game again. State is weak when it comes to defending running quarterbacks giving Watson an opportunity to have a big game on the ground. Also, other weapons like Wayne Gallman and Artavis Scott should have big games as well.

Clemson's Defense vs NC State's Offense

Jacoby Brissett comes into this weekend with 10 touchdowns and only 1 interception on the year. He has picked apart opposing defenses but has yet to be really challenged. Like Brad Kaaya and Miami found out last week, Clemson is playing at another level. The entire secondary is talented making it hard to find a weaknesses. Shaq Lawson and Kevin Dodd have been able to get to the quarterback consistently. Brissett will have to make quick decisions and be able to handle the pressure of the Tiger front 4.

The run game has been consistent for the Pack, too. Running back, Matt Dayes as rushed for over 100 yards per game and has 12 touchdowns. Dayes is a playmaker. Ben Boulware will be instrumental in slowing down Dayes. If Boulware plays well, Dayes will find it tough to have a good performance.

Special Teams

Special Teams could help NC State keep the game close. Nyheim Hines and Bra'lon Cherry have both been good returning the football. If the Tigers coverage is sloppy like it has been multiple times this year, Hines and Cherry will be able to make them pay. With these 2, don't be surprised if they change field position and possibly score a touchdown.

Prediction

Thusfar, the Wolfpack have proven to be a capable football team. They have certainly benefited from a favorable schedule. Though State does have some talent they just don't have the fire power to keep up with Clemson. The Tigers are on a role right now and you can expect that to continue. They won't overlook NC State but also don't expect them to win as much as they did against Miami. Clemson wins 45-19.
