Clemson Football Recruiting Insider: QB Commit Named All-American, 4-Star Safety High On Tigers After Visit & More

The Clemson Tigers only have two games left in the regular season, but that doesn't mean they've slowed down on the recruiting trail. In fact, the Tigers' 2017 class already ranks in the top 10 nationally with 14 commitments. Here are all the latest Clemson football recruiting news:

4-star safety high on Tigers after visit
Four-star safety Xavier McKinney (Roswell, GA) made his official visit to Clemson over the weekend, and came away impressed.

"We talked about their program and how things work," McKinney said. "Coach Swinney told me about the type of people they have at Clemson. I had a couple questions about playing both ways also, playing receiver on offense. He said it can be done but that I would have to come in and compete. He said they are always going to play the better person at the position so it can be done as long as I can come in and compete against people like Mike Williams.

"I didn't talk about [early playing time] but they brought it up saying they are in need and that I would make their recruiting class complete."

McKinney is though to be favoring Clemson, but is taking an official visit to Alabama this weekend and then to Ohio State for the Michigan game.

The 6-foot-1, 192-pounder is ranked as the No. 5 safety and No. 43 overall recruit by 247sports.

5-star QB commit named All-American
Five-star quarterback Hunter Johnson (Brownsburg, IN) committed to Clemson last December, and unsurprisingly was named a U.S. Army All-American:

The 6-foot4, 201-pounder is ranked as the top player in the state of Indiana and the No. 22 overall prospect in the country.

Clemson maintains lead for 4-star DE Stephon Wynn
Four-star defensive end Stephon Wynn (Anderson, SC) has offers from numerous ACC and SEC programs, but Wynn is very open about the fact that Clemson leads for his services, according to Anna Hickey of 247sports.

The 6-foot-4, 247-pounder is ranked as the No. 3 strong-side defensive end and No. 59 overall prospect in the country.
