Official release: Tigers add Mitchell

Shelton Mitchell, a 6-3 guard at Vanderbilt University last season, has signed a financial aid agreement to transfer to Clemson.

Mitchell confirmed to The Clemson Insider on Sunday he committed to Clemson after visiting Clemson this past weekend. Head Coach Brad Brownell made the announcement official on Monday. Per NCAA rules, Mitchell is required to sit out the 2015-16 season, but has three seasons of eligibility remaining, beginning in 2016-17.

“We’re excited Shelton has decided to join our program,” Brownell said. “Our staff has known him a long time; we recruited him throughout his high school career.
