Clemson vs. Boston College Preview

Clemson will travel to Chestnut Hill after suffering their first loss of the season. How will this team reacts to its first loss and will they overlook a solid BC team. The Tigers will be the favorites but this has the makings of a trap game.

Clemson's offense vs. Boston College's Defense

Clemson's offense will meet a formidable opponent Saturday when it faces off against the Eagles. Boston College's defense has 3 of the top 4 leading tacklers in the ACC in Nick Clancy, Kevin Pierre-Louis, and Steele Divitto. BC hasn't been great against the run so Clemson will likely give the ball to Andre Ellington quite a bit. The run game should do well and prevent BC from focusing completely on the Tiger passing attack. Sammy Watkins is still looking for his 1st receiving TD of the season and has yet to breakout.

Clemson's defense vs. Boston College's Offense

Clemson's D will face another good QB against in Chase Rettig. He leads the ACC in passing yards per game and currently has 6 touchdowns while only throwing 1 interception. After seeing Clemson being exposed in the passing game last weekend, he will likely try to carry BC to a win through the air. His favorite target is Alex Amidon who leads the ACC in receiving yards per game. The Clemson secondary has to be very well prepared or it can give up a lot of passing yards and points to BC.

Special Teams

Both teams have good special teams. BC's Nate Freese and Clemson's Chandler Catanzaro are 7 for 7 on field goal attempts this season. The games between these 2 tend to be close and normally involve lots of field goals so one of the kickers might have a chance give their team a win or seal the win.

X-Factor

With the offensive firepower both teams have the game will likely come down to turnovers. Each team has ability to make up points through the air but given good field position due to turnovers could help the winning team pull away. The team with the least turnover wins.

Prediction

This is going to be a very good offensive game. Two of the best quarterbacks will likely go back and forth helping their team put points on the board. Turnovers will likely be the major factor if both teams appear evenly matched. Also, red zone scoring will be a factor. When in the red zone Clemson has scored 100% of the time and has scored 12 TDs in 16 attempts. Boston College has scored just over 68% of the time in the red zone leading to 5 TDs in 16 chances. Advantage Clemson but this is a potential trap game for the Tigers after an emotional loss to FSU. Clemson wins 48-38.
