CINCINNATI -- After he missed most of last season with a hip injury, Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco will have to sit out again for a while in 2016. On Monday, Mesoraco was placed on the 15-day disabled list with another serious injury -- a torn labrum in his left shoulder.
The move is retroactive to Thursday since Mesoraco last appeared in a game Wednesday. Ramon Cabrera was recalled from Triple-A Louisville to take his place on the 25-man roster.
Mesoraco underwent a MRI exam Monday morning that confirmed the injury. A timetable for his return was not immediately known.
