Reds targeting trade for Ben Zobrist or Daniel Murphy?

In today's Reds trade rumors and news update, the Cincinnati Reds are looking for offensive help prior to the July 31st non-waiver trade deadline and could have two particular names in mind during their search.

According to John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer, "Ben Zobrist of Tampa Bay and Daniel Murphy of the New York Mets are the two top choices I see. Both can play multiple positions, so they could plug a hole until (Brandon) Phillips and Joey Votto return and then play elsewhere."

Both Votto and Phillips are reportedly over a month away from returning, so having one or two of these flexible options at their disposal could help the Reds paper over their losses in the middle of a very tight four-team race for the NL Central crown.

Neither Murphy nor Zobrist will come cheaply in terms of salary or prospects given up, so GM Walt Jocketty will have to be both discerning and aggressive if he looks to land either player before the middle of next week.
