Cincinnati Reds: 4 Players in Contention After First All-Star Update

With the All-Star Game coming to Cincinnati this summer, the Reds were probably hoping to have several representatives from their hometown team on the National League roster. Given that the team hasn’t performed well this season, it might seem like a long shot that the Reds have more than a couple of all-stars.

While no Cincinnati Reds player leads at their position, I was a bit surprised to see they have four representatives in the top five at their respective positions when the first NL All-Star Game ballot update was released on Wednesday.

The entire Reds infield of Joey Votto, Brandon Phillips, Zack Cozart, and Todd Frazier are ranked in the top five at their positions, though most aren’t all that close to the leading vote-getters.
