Bengals TE Tyler Eifert Still In Concussion Protocol

The Cincinnati Bengals were without TE Tyler Eifert Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers because of a concussion Eifert sustained in the team's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers the week before. Eifert is still not out of concussion protocol and his status for the team's Monday Night game against the Denver Broncos is in doubt.

Eifert left the in first half against the Steelers after safety Mike Mitchell hit him in the head. Mitchell was fined $23,152 for the play.

Injuries have been the only thing holding Eifert back during his career. In three seasons, Eifert has played in just 28 games.

Because the Bengals play on Monday Night, Eifert has an extra day to be cleared to return. If Eifert can't go, the Bengals will start rookie Tyler Kroft in his place for the third time this season. Kroft caught his first career TD pass against the 49ers.

Eifert is in the midst of a breakout season for the Bengals. He's caught 48 passes for 564 yards and 12 TDs this season. He'll likely be named to the Pro Bowl for the first time in his  three year career.
