The wait is finally over for the one of the most popular and successful quarterbacks in the history of the storied Alabama Crimson Tide football program.
With the 164th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals drafted A.J. McCarron -- ending a day of speculation as the two-time BCS National Championship-winning quarterback slid dangerously close to the late rounds of Saturday's draft festivities.
Per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, "the Bengals arguably got a bargain with McCarron, thanks to a self-assessment that one scout calls “delusional” and poor decision-making that included not attending the Senior Bowl."
In speaking with the media during the pre-draft process, McCarron confidently asserted that he was being labeled as a first-round talent by several NFL scouts. This allegedly raised the ire of many executives around the league, perhaps leading to McCarron's stock dropping dramatically compared to his own projections.
