Fifth Third Renovation Might Kill Plans To Upgrade US Bank Arena, And It’s Sort Of Beautiful

The Cincinnati Enquirer is reporting that UC moving forward with Fifth Third Arena renovations might kill any plans the city has to upgrade US Bank Arena downtown.

“The circus and concerts and the Cyclones are not enough,” said Hamilton County Commissioner Chris Monzel. “They wanted UC’s basketball team down there, which made sense. I don’t know what else is out there that would be a big draw.”

Commissioner Todd Portune said any plans to renovate the downtown arena are dead if UC follows through on the $85 million facelift for Fifth Third Bank Arena on campus.
