The Daily CCO: Twenty Games Over and Cubs Memorial Day News and Notes

Happy Memorial Day

The Cubs reached one of the many team goals Sunday. The Cubs improved to 34-14 on the season with the 7-2 victory over the Phillies. The Cubs are 20 games over .500 for the first time on the season. Joe Maddon’s team did not hit the 20-over mark until Aug. 23 last year.

Maddon stressed the importance of getting off to a good start this season. The Cubs wake up on Memorial Day with the best record in baseball, 6 ½ ahead of the Pirates and 9 ½ games up on the Cardinals in the NL Central.
