The strange week that was for Eddy Julio Martinez continued Friday to the point the Cubs may not have an agreement in place as reported Thursday.
Jesse Sanchez reported last Sunday that Martinez had agreed to terms with the Giants for $2.5 million. Baseball America’s Ben Badler and Jon Heyman confirmed Sanchez’s report. It appeared the Cubs lost out on a potential impact talent to the Giants.
Two days later, Keith Law reported Martinez did not sign with the Giants. Law was in the Dominican Republic at the time.
