CHICAGO -- Chicago Cubs infielder Javier Baez was doing what every good teammate does after scoring a run: Helping out the runner behind him by instructing him if he needs to slide or not.
But on Friday, Baez got in the way of home plate umpire Eric Cooper’s line of vision as David Ross was ready to cross the plate, so Cooper shoved Baez aside to get a better look.
The play developed in the second inning on Chris Coghlan ’s two-run single. After crossing the plate himself, Baez turned toward Ross, not knowing he was in Cooper’s way.
