How they won: Cubs crush the fastball

The Chicago Cubs can certainly stand the heat.

Jason Heyward and David Ross both homered off fastballs Friday as the Cubs won their third straight game, a 12-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners.

The Cubs scored 10 or more runs for the eighth time this season, already equalling their total of such games in the 2014 and 2015 seasons combined.

Fastball no match for Cubs

The Cubs did most of their damage against the fastball Friday. They went 7-for-19, including four of their five extra-base hits, and drove in six runs on at-bats that ended with a fastball.
