The Cubs scored a season-high 12 runs at Wrigley Field on Friday afternoon behind an excellent start from Jon Lester and took the opener of the three-game series from the Mariners.
Chris Coghlan, in his first game back from the DL, drove in the first two runs with a two out single in the third. Jason Heyward homered and drove in three runs. David Ross led off the six-run sixth inning with a solo home run.
