Why was Jimmy Butler so passive in the fourth quarter?

The Bulls ask a lot of Jimmy Butler, and his scoreless fourth quarter in Game 5 doomed the team. The Bulls entered the final period with an 81-79 lead over the Boston Celtics, thanks to a last-second Butler 3-pointer, but ended up losing 108-97. They managed only 16 points on 33 percent shooting in the fourth and had more turnovers (six) than made shots (five) in the quarter.

Butler is the undisputed star of the team, and he earned the brunt of the blame from fans and media after a very quiet offensive performance. He took only two shots in the final quarter.
