BLACKSBURG, Va. - Several standout performances from freshmen highlighted day one of the Virginia Tech Invitational for the Charlotte track & field team at Rector Field House Friday evening.
Making his collegiate debut, freshman Jayquan Williams placed third out of 23 runners with a time of 2:29.84 - good enough for 5th on the program's all-time top-10 list. Results for the men's unseeded pole vault came in shortly after, showing that freshman Elijah Cole had surpassed his mark of 4.60 meters in his collegiate debut back in December by jumping 4.65 meters (15'3") to take first in the event and move into a tie for fourth in program history.
