School Record Highlights CMU Showing At Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Central Michigan’s Nadia Williams set a program long jump record and Brandon McCleese won the javelin to highlight Chippewa track and field performances in the outdoor-season opening Tennessee Rust Buster.

The field comprised 19 schools. No team scores were kept.

Williams measured 20 feet, ¼ inch in the long jump, placing fourth. She broke the previous CMU record set, 19-11, in 2002 by Maria Derezinski.

Williams, a freshman from Mount Horeb, Wis., also placed seventh on Saturday in the 100-meter dash in 12.11 seconds.

McCleese, a senior, won the men’s javelin with a toss of 191-2.
