MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan’s Rachael Knapp was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Pitcher of the Week after going a combined 2-1 last week against Oakland and Bowling Green.
Knapp, a senior from St. Joseph, struck out 23 in 19 innings and posted a 1.11 earned run average. She struck out 10 in tossing a three-hitter in a 3-1 win over the Golden Grizzlies on Wednesday, and fanned nine in throwing another three-hitter in a 7-1 victory over the Falcons in the Chippewas’ Mid-American Conference opener on Friday.
On Sunday, Knapp allowed one earned run in a 5-3 loss to Bowling Green.
