CMU's Doan Named To Rimington Watch List

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan’s Austin Doan has been named to the Rimington Trophy Spring Watch List.

Doan, a 6-foot-4, 300-pound senior-to-be from Romeo, is one of 63 centers nationwide, including nine representing Mid-American Conference schools, named to the list. With nine, the MAC has more players on the list than any conference in the nation.

Doan appeared in nine games, all of them starts, for CMU in 2016, helping the Chippewas to a 6-7 finish including 3-5 the MAC and a berth in the Miami Beach Bowl.

The trophy, which goes annually to the top center in college football, is named for former Nebraska great Dave Rimington, a two-time All-American and the only center in college football history to have twice earned the Outland Trophy, which annually goes to the game’s top lineman.
