Chippewas Win Series Opener In Texas

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Pat Leatherman pitched seven strong innings and freshmen Zach Gilles and Reed Adams had three hits apiece on Friday as Central Michigan defeated Incarnate Word, 5-2, in the opener of a four-game series at the Cardinals’ Sullivan Field.

The Chippewas matched their season-high with 12 hits and overcame three errors in improving to 2-2. The teams are scheduled to play a doubleheader on Saturday (2 p.m.).

Leatherman (1-1), a sophomore right-hander, allowed two runs – none earned – on four hits while walking five and striking out three.
