Men’s Basketball Drops Heartbreaker to NYU, 73-72

A three-point shot with 3.9 seconds remaining from New York University's Joe Timmes proved to be the difference on Friday night, as the Case Western Reserve University Spartans dropped a 73-72 heartbreaker to the Violets in Manhattan, New York.

The loss dropped the Spartans to 0-2 in conference play and to 5-8 on the season, while NYU improved to 6-6 overall with a 1-1 conference ledger.

Junior forward David Black led all scorers in the game with a season-high 24 points, shooting eight-for-13 overall and three-for-seven from long range. Junior guard Colin Zucker added 12 points, converting four-of-eight three point shots in the game, and junior forward Eric Black scored nine points and led the team with nine rebounds.
