METAIRIE, La. -- Carolina Panthers defensive tackle Kawann Short was fined $18,231, according to the NFL, for his hit to Drew Brees’ face in last Sunday’s 41-38 victory by the New Orleans Saints.
Short shoved Brees hard in the jaw area underneath his face mask a moment after Brees released a pass, knocking him to the ground, drawing some blood and leaving Brees with a fat lip in the postgame press conference.
“It looked like he just straight punched me in the mouth,” Brees said after the game.
