Carolina Panthers sign 8 to future contracts

Less than 72 hours into the offseason, Panthers General Manager Dave Gettleman has signed eight practice squad players to future contracts. Among the members signed, include wide receiver Damiere Byrd, guard Reese Dismukes, offensive tackle David Foucalt, defensive tackle Chas Alecxih, defensive back Rasi Dowling, safety Marcus Ball, linebacker Brian Blechen, and defensive end Rakim Cox.

While the idea of signing players to future contracts, especially those who have occupied the practice squad, may seem like a mundane task, it’s still a very important part of the overall process. These players have been deemed valuable to the organization to some extent, and as such cannot officially become members of the roster, until the beginning of the new league year, on March 9.
