3 Draft Day Trades The Carolina Panthers Could Make

Updated 4/25/2015

The 2015 NFL Draft is under a month away, which means draft trade rumors are about to get extremely loud around the league. The Carolina Panthers are one team that could be in the mix for some draft day hijinx, but what/who exactly would they look to trade for? Here’s 3 Draft Day Trades The Carolina Panthers Could Make.

1. Trade gaggle of picks (including #25 pick in 1st round & 2016 first-rounder) to Jacksonville for #3 pick

Both ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport have cited the team's impasse in contract negotiations with QB Cam Newton as a potential impetus for the Panthers to trade up and snag Oregon's Marcus Mariota. It would take a ransom to wrest the #3 pick away from Jacksonville, but GM Dave Gettleman may be willing to pull the trigger to find the team's next franchise quarterback.

2. Trade gaggle of picks (including #25 pick in 1st round & 2016 first-rounder) to Oakland for #4 pick

Same song, different chorus. If Oakland isn't fully sold on Alabama WR Amari Cooper or West Virginia WR Kevin White (or USC DE Leonard Williams for that matter), they could be willing to trade down and wait for someone like Louisville WR DeVante Parker. Again, this all hinges on a) Cam Newton's contract talks & b) Gettleman being absolutely smitten with Mariota.

3. Trade #25 pick to Dallas for #27 pick and conditional 2016 late-rounder

Or...the Panthers could look to the future and swap picks with a riverboat gambler like Dallas' Jerry Jones. The Cowboys have been connected to seemingly everyone and anyone under the sun in this draft (most notably Kentucky pass rusher Bud Dupree), and they may be willing to mortgage part of their 2016 draft to assure themselves of the man they want.
