The Detroit Red Wings, until this year a sure bet on the playoffs, are in Raleigh to take on the Hurricanes with little hope for a postseason. But despite the misfortune the Hurricanes have been handed this season, they currently sit five points outside of Boston for the second Eastern Conference Wild Card spot.
Patrick Brown and the previously-injured Valentin Zykov were assigned to the Charlotte Checkers this week, and the young Swede, Lucas Wallmark, a sharp-shooter for the Checkers, takes his place on the fourth line tonight.
