Carolina Hurricanes Send Ryan Murphy to the AHL after Recovering from Concussion

The Carolina Hurricanes have announced that they have assigned 22-year-old defenseman Ryan Murphy to the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL. Murphy has missed the past 5 games due to a concussion that he suffered on November 14 against the Philadelphia Flyers.

The 2011 first round draft pick has 4 points in 17 games this season and is a +1. He just recently eclipsed the 100 game mark in the NHL, and he has 29 total points in 106 career games.

Murphy had a great start to the 2015-2016 season with the Hurricanes, providing a solid defensive presence alongside rookie defenseman and defensive partner Noah Hanifin.
