Carolina Hurricanes re-sign Derek Ryan to one-year, $1.425 million contract extension

The Doctor will be in for at least one more season.

The Carolina Hurricanes have re-signed 30-year old center Derek Ryan to a one-year, $1.425 million contract extension.

The Spokane, Washington native had a productive rookie season, recording 11 goals and 18 assists for 29 points in 67 games. The forward broke into the NHL during the 2015-2016 season, playing six games and netting a pair of goals. A finalist for the 2017 Masterton Trophy for perseverance and dedication to hockey, Ryan has been a positive puck possession player and was 55.
