Carolina Hurricanes rookie forward Brock McGinn has been selected the NHL’s third star of the week, the league announced this afternoon. McGinn becomes the first player to be recognized by the league since Cam Ward, who was the second star for the week ending 11/20/16. This marks the first time since the 2014-15 season the Canes have had two players selected to the three stars in a season.
The Fergus, Ontario native scored four goals, earned three assists (7 points) and recorded a plus-5 plus/minus rating in Carolina’s three home wins against Columbus, Buffalo and the New York Islanders.
