Justin Faulk Should be an Alternate Captain for the Carolina Hurricanes

When Hurricanes fans think about the 2010 NHL draft, they think of the figure skater their team drafted who turned out to be a pretty darn good hockey player. But Calder trophy-winning forward Jeff Skinner wasn’t the only thoroughbred the Canes picked up that day.

With the 37th pick, Jim Rutherford selected Justin Faulk, an American born defenseman who, in the 4 years following, would win an NCAA championship at Minnesota-Duluth, compete for the Calder Cup with the Charlotte Checkers in the AHL, be named to both the NHL All Star Skills competition and the All Star team itself, and most impressively, earn a spot with the 2014 U.
