Team Europe announces Marian Gaborik injury for World Cup final

TORONTO - Team Europe, already a huge underdog against Canada in the World Cup of Hockey final, could have its chances diminished ever further by an injury to Marian Gaborik.

Coach Ralph Krueger, reacting to a Monday morning report that Gaborik departed the Air Canada Centre with a cast on his leg and needing crutches, would only confirm the 34-year-old right winger has a lower body injury. Krueger said it will be re-evaluated Tuesday, before Canada and Europe commence a best-of-three final.

Gaborik, who plays for the Los Angeles Kings, had two assists in three round robin games and Sunday’s playoff win over Sweden.
