The Senators have avoided arbitration with winger Mike Hoffman.
He agreed to a four-year deal worth an average of $5.1875 million per season Wednesday. He was scheduled to go to arbitration next Thursday.
Hoffman had 29 goals and 59 points last season and was an RFA. Getting him under contract means the only player left to sign is defenceman Cody Ceci.
Hoffman's agent Rob Hooper met face to face with Senators GM Pierre Dorion Tuesday in Ottawa and with assistant GM Randy Lee. The two sides felt they were close to making something happen when they left the meeting.
