Bold words from Flames centre Mikael Backlund as series returns to Calgary

VANCOUVER — With the bridge of his nose still glistening with blood from a bird’s nest of fresh stitches, Mikael Backlund could be excused for seeing red.

As in the C of Red — a large body of fans he insists will ultimately be the difference in his Calgary Flames’ NHL first-round playoff war with the Vancouver Canucks.

In fact, he’s guaranteeing it.

“There’s no way we’re losing at home,” boldly announced the gritty Flames centre, insisting the pressure is still on the Canucks.
