Arguably sexist 'Katy Perry' chant no big deal: Bettman

Inside NHL arenas, you are welcome to chant whatever you please at players, according to commissioner Gary Bettman, as long as “the language is acceptable.”

Bettman, the longtime NHL honcho, told the Associated Press on Friday that he does not believe a “Katy Perry! Katy Perry!” chant directed at Anaheim Ducks forward Corey Perry by the Winnipeg Jets faithful at the MTS Centre earlier this week is cause for concern.

“I don’t think taunting chants at players on the other side of the ice, assuming the language is acceptable, is intended to be sexist in the slightest,” said Bettman, who on Monday attended Game 3 of the Jets-Ducks first-round series.
