Lea Garner hangs on and edges Sirene Blair for Utah Women's Open title

PROVO — Former BYU golfer Lea Garner hung on to win the inaugural Utah Women’s Open Sunday, edging Sirene Blair by one shot at East Bay Golf Course.

Garner, a native of Washington Terrace who completed her career at BYU last year, added a 66 to her first-day 67 to beat Blair, who hails from South Jordan and just completed her collegiate career at San Diego State. Blair also shot 66 Sunday after a first-round 68.

Finishing five shots back of the winner at 138 was Juli Erekson, a professional from Eagle Mountain, while BYU sophomore Anna Kennedy was the top amateur, finishing with a 140 total, a shot better than State Amateur champion Kelsey Chugg.
